Hello! My name is Jessica Mills, and I have been heading up the Dapplegray Library since the fall of 2018. I am a native Californian and grew up on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It has been wonderful to have the opportunity to serve the community that nurtured me! I hold a Masters degree (MLIS) in Library and Information Science, and before coming to Dapplegray, I taught early intervention TK, middle school English and drama, and high school drama in the public school setting, and I created the curriculum and taught art to K-5 students for the DaVinci school. In addition, I served in a number of capacities for a non-profit youth theater company, and I worked as a theatrical scenic designer, painter, and prop artist. I am also a certified California Naturalist and science communicator, with a focus on guiding students in recognizing and valuing the wonders of nature. I am a passionate believer in the transformative power of libraries, and I love having the chance to share that with students and staff at Dapplegray. When I’m not at the Dapplegray library, you might find me out and about in nature, exploring local history, digging into an archives, at a theater performance, perfecting some new vegan recipes, working in my garden, or curled up with a good book.
